The lower section of Lonberger Path, also known as Chute Trail, seen on this map is slated to be relocated and “rock armored”. Due to this section of trail being extremely eroded, this project
is essential to develop a sustainable trail. … Not only is this trail dangerous and difficult to traverse, it has potential to cause environmental issues associated with stream sedimentation. This project is to begin August 5th and continue for approximately 2-3 weeks. During this time, Chute Trail will be CLOSED TO ALL recreation uses. Once the project is complete, Chute Trail will reopen and the old section as well as Cabin Trail will be properly retired and eliminated.
This project has been approved by the DCNR: Bureau of Forestry, Rothrock State Forest. If you have any questions, please call the District Office at (814) 643-2340.
