Chute Trail Project

Jan 11, 2014

The following message is from the Bureau of Forestry:

The Rothrock State Forest plans to eliminate, brush in, and permanently retire two sections of trail located in the Galbraith Gap Area on Thursday, January 16th. The trail known as “Cabin Trail” and a spur of Lonberger Trail will be brushed in and trees dropped across the trail to close access. The reason for these closures include trail sustainability issues as well as high safety concerns. This is part of the “Chute Trail Project” that began in August 2013. In place of the trails being closed, please use the newly built and upgraded lower section of Lonberger Trail (Chute Trail). Please refer to the map for further details. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Rothrock State Forest at (814)643-2340.
