We brought the new NMBA T-shirts to the picnic, but if you weren’t at the NMBA picnic ride on Saturday, you can pick your shirts up from the one of these 3 bikes shops in State College: Eddies Bikes, Freeze Thaw Cycles and The Bicycle Shop. You must have paid your NMBA membership for the year to get your T-shirt!
As you know we are coming up on hunting season. Archery starts September 30 this year, and I would like to remind all members to be aware that there are others in the woods besides us.
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind members to treat all private lands (non state forest) with respect. Stay on the designated paths or roads we have been given permission to use and DO NOT deviate from these tracks as that jeopardizes our future use of these areas. These areas include:
– Ferguson township land – Kepler Road area
– State College Water Authority land – Kepler Road and Shingletown Gap areas
– Corner Road and Dylan’s Path (also known as Camp Rd & posted as Camp trail) – off Bear Meadows Rd up to the beer tap
– Kistler loop & Leniency trail – from the beer tap down to Treaster Kettle Rd
If you do happen to run into issues in these areas, please be polite and respectful (as hard as that might be), advise the person/s as a member of NMBA we have been granted permission to traverse that section of trail/road by the owner. If you see others abusing this privilege we have been granted please advise them to stop as it jeopardizes our future access to the trail/road. In either case, I would also ask that you get a hold of one of the NMBA officers ASAP after any negative incident so we are aware of any potential issues.
Enjoy the fall and share the woods respectfully!
It’s May, and we’re starting our weekly group rides. Look for other NMBA members Thursdays just before 6pm in the Galbraith Gap parking lot just past the base of Tussey Ski Resort in Rothrock State Forest. Check out our calendar for more details, and we’ll see you on the trails!
Funds raised by NMBA during the Centre Gives event will go towards the maintenance, design, and development of trail in Rothrock State Forest. Existing trail needs to be maintained on a continual basis to keep the trail clear from debris and overgrowth. Proposed new trail projects include the development of network trail in the Musser Gap area and the Whipple Dam area. If you enjoy utilizing the multi-use trail system in Rothrock State Forest, and want to see it grow, please consider making a donation to NMBA on May 9th – 10th!
Donations made by business in the amount of $250 or more during the Centre Gives event will guarantee logo placement for the business on the back of the 2017 NMBA T-Shirt! Donate during Centre Gives on May 9th – 10th and be seen!
NMBA recommends that individuals who need to renew their membership do so during the Centre Gives event – simply click on the donation link (when available) and donate $30 to fulfill your membership dues. Centre Gives provides a match of funds so the more that is donated to NMBA during Centre Gives, the greater the match for NMBA!
